Two new slip-resistant aggregates in the Florock Industrial Flooring line, glass beads and Shark Skin (finely graded, clear plastic particles), allow for easier installation, thereby reducing labor costs for many concrete resurfacing applications. The new materials, when added to a pail of liquid floor paint, remain evenly suspended, allowing the technician to roll out the floor coating and aggregate simultaneously. The result is a less expensive, one-step safety floor with more evenly distributed slip-resistance than is achievable with standard methods.
In the past, the prudent contractor would attempt to wait for new concrete to fully cure before installing coatings, all the while testing for slab moisture at regular intervals. However, as Tom Lux, Florock Technical Representative, explains, some slabs can take months before their MVT level is considered safe for typical industrial coating application. Some may never reach an acceptable level. With today’s tight construction time-lines, and even tighter budgets, contractors can little afford to wait.
